IU School of Public Health-Bloomington selects Juhua Luo as Outstanding Early Career Scholar

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Juhua Luo, an assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington, will receive the 2015 School of Public Health Outstanding Early Career Scholar Award at a ceremony and reception on Monday, April 20.

The event starts at 1:30 p.m. in the President’s Room at the University Club in the Indiana Memorial Union. Luo will also present a public lecture featuring her work.

Luo's research and training have focused on lifestyle and environmental factors in relation to cancer risk and cancer prognosis, particularly for breast, lung, and pancreatic cancer. She has been involved in the Women's Health Initiative, a large prospective cohort, since 2005. Her current research interests include diabetes and cancer incidence and mortality; and breast cancer risk in relation to environmental pollutants and other factors.

"She represents the best of the best, and her hard work, curiosity and contributions to public health, I'm sure, will continue throughout what promises to be a remarkable career."

The award, supported and administered by the School of Public Health-Bloomington Committee on Research and Creative Activity, recognizes outstanding contributions to research and/or creative activity by an early career member of the faculty in the School of Public Health-Bloomington.
