Despite two recessions that hit the state's for-profit sector hard, a new Indiana University report shows that the state's nonprofit sector grew every year from 1995 through 2011. However, this growth was uneven and driven mainly by the nonprofit health care and education industries.

Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and School of Education made major moves in 2014 rankings of the Best Online Education Programs by U.S. News and World Report, placing No. 1 and 2 respectively. The online bachelor's degree program at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne also was ranked by U.S. News, at ninth. Graduate programs at the IU School of Nursing at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis moved from 37th in 2013 to 32nd this year.
